Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2, 2026

By using pdfs2txt ("the Service"), you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

pdfs2txt is a free, web-based tool that converts PDF documents to Markdown text. The Service is provided "as is" for personal and commercial use.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:

3. File Size Limits

Uploaded PDF files must not exceed 50 MB. Files exceeding this limit will be rejected. We reserve the right to adjust this limit at any time.

4. Conversion Accuracy

pdfs2txt makes a best-effort attempt to convert PDF content into Markdown. However, we make no guarantees regarding the completeness, accuracy, or formatting of the converted output. PDF is a complex format, and some elements — such as intricate tables, embedded fonts, or unusual layouts — may not convert perfectly. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying the converted output before relying on it.

5. Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to the files you upload and the resulting converted output. pdfs2txt claims no ownership over your content. You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to upload and convert any files you submit.

6. API Keys

If you provide a third-party API key (such as an OpenAI or Google API key) for enhanced processing, you are responsible for any costs or usage incurred through that API. pdfs2txt is not responsible for charges from third-party providers.

7. Availability

We strive to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, pdfs2txt and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, inaccurate conversions, or service downtime.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in accordance with the applicable jurisdiction.
